Fosse Way Solar Farm Consented

We’re pleased to see the Fosse Way Solar Farm project consented following appeal.

This project was particularly rewarding for the Avian Ecology team, as we supported it throughout the planning process – from the initial ecological surveys and assessment work through to the appeal stage. Our work included habitat surveys, breeding bird surveys, great crested newt assessment, biodiversity net gain calculations and the preparation of long-term ecological management proposals.

Our MD Joe Whittick also had the opportunity to represent the ecology evidence at the appeal hearing, helping to demonstrate how the scheme had been designed to avoid and mitigate ecological effects while delivering meaningful biodiversity enhancements.

The consented scheme will deliver significant biodiversity net gain, retain and enhance higher-value habitats, provide long-term habitat management, and include measures for species such as skylark, bats and great crested newts. The proposals also incorporate extensive grassland creation and habitat enhancement that will provide benefits for a wide range of species over the lifetime of the development.

Projects like this continue to demonstrate that renewable energy infrastructure and biodiversity enhancement can go hand in hand when ecology is considered from the outset.

Congratulations to everyone involved in securing this positive outcome.
