Avian Ecology

Cobham Solar Farm Consented

We’re pleased to see the Cobham Solar project successfully consented following appeal.

Avian Ecology provided ecology and ornithology support to the appeal team, helping to demonstrate that the scheme could deliver renewable energy generation alongside meaningful biodiversity enhancements.

The project includes significant biodiversity net gain, with habitat creation and management measures that will enhance ecological value across the site, while retaining and protecting important features such as hedgerows and watercourses. Particular attention was also given to farmland birds, including the development of an appropriate mitigation strategy for skylark.

Projects such as this demonstrate that, with good design and robust ecological input, renewable energy developments can play an important role in addressing climate change while also delivering positive outcomes for nature.

Congratulations to everyone involved in securing this result.
